<p>This video begins a series of stand alone hot tent cooking videos. Today we will be cooking chicken fajitas on a camp stove in a hot tent. I&#8217;m a believer of testing your gear before you take it into the field, so accordingly we put this Luxe Outdoor Megahorn III hot tent and Guide Gear camp stove to the test! </p>

<h4 id="what-do-you-need-to-cook-this-recipe" class="wp-block-heading">What do you need to cook this recipe?</h4>

<ul><li>Bell peppers: yellow, orange, and red (or whatever you prefer)</li><li>Yellow onions</li><li>Chicken breasts (or thighs, legs, wings…)</li><li>2 packs of fajita or taco seasoning</li><li>Butter</li><li>Avocado oil</li><li>Salt and Pepper</li></ul>

<h4 id="what-tools-do-you-need-to-cook-this-recipe" class="wp-block-heading">What tools do you need to cook this recipe?</h4>

<ul><li><a href="https://amzn.to/3pS2mmp" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Large cast iron pan</a></li><li>Spatula</li><li>Knife</li><li>Cutting board</li><li>Bowl</li><li>Fork (to stuff your face)</li></ul>

<h4 id="prepping-the-recipe" class="wp-block-heading">Prepping the Recipe</h4>

<p>First, cut the peppers and onions lengthwise. You want to have bite sized, long pieces of onion and peppers. Set those aside. Next, cut the chicken breast the same way, lengthwise. You dont want pieces that are too large to fit into a tortialla or lettuce wrap. Set the chicken aside. </p>

<p>We are cooking this meal on a wood burning camp stove, but you can use whatever you have. Make sure there is a medium sized fire going in the camp stove. You are going to need to feed this fire fresh logs occasionally. Next, put your 10-15 inch diameter cast iron pan onto the surface of the camp stove. Add a tablespoon of butter and a light pour of avocado oil, probably about two tablespoons. Let the butter melt and the oil heat up.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC00851-4-1024x683.jpg" alt="chicken fajitas on camp stove" class="wp-image-2414" srcset="https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC00851-4-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC00851-4-300x200.jpg 300w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC00851-4-768x512.jpg 768w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC00851-4-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC00851-4-110x73.jpg 110w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC00851-4-200x133.jpg 200w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC00851-4-380x253.jpg 380w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC00851-4-255x170.jpg 255w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC00851-4-550x367.jpg 550w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC00851-4-800x533.jpg 800w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC00851-4-1160x773.jpg 1160w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC00851-4.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>I always cook the peppers and onions first. Add them to the pan and cook them until they are at your desired tenderness. Remove them from the pan and set aside. Next, add more butter and avocado oil. After the oil and butter are heated, add the chicken. Cook the chicken until it is no longer pink. </p>

<h4 id="assembling-the-fajitas" class="wp-block-heading">Assembling the Fajitas</h4>

<p>Once the chicken is fully cooked add the peppers and onions back to the pan. Thoroughly mix everything together and add salt and pepper to taste. Next, add your two spice packs and mix. Let the fajitas cook for about ten more minutes to fully inject the flavor of the spices into the meat and vegetables. </p>

<p>You may need to adjust the spices to taste. I like a little heat to my fajitas so I like to add smoked paprika and a touch of cayenne. Serve with flour or corn tortillas or if you&#8217;re low carb/keto, serve with lettuce wraps. Also, you can serve the fajitas in a bowl. I top with sour cream, red onions, and hot sauce. Cilantro and cheese would be good toppings as well. Finally, it is time to stuff your face!! That&#8217;s the best part. </p>

<h3 id="everything-you-will-ever-need-for-your-camp-kitchen" class="wp-block-heading">Everything You Will Ever Need for Your Camp Kitchen</h3>

<p>When Goran and I go tent camping we like to be comfortable. Our camping kitchen box is always ready to go. It has a home on our camping shelf in our garage and I restock it after each trip. Everything in the camp kitchen box is specifically for camping. Nothing ever leaves this box if we&#8217;re not camping. Check out the video linked above to see you can see everything that goes into it!</p>

<h4 id="why-should-you-pack-a-camping-kitchen-box" class="wp-block-heading">Why Should You Pack a Camping Kitchen Box?</h4>

<p>You should pack a camping kitchen box because it makes getting ready to go camping so much simpler. If you have to pack this box up every time you are getting ready for a trip, it will be a hassle. We love to cook, especially over a fire. But we also like to be comfortable and have everything we need to do it right. Everybody is different, so it is important that you pack a camping kitchen box that will suit your needs. </p>

<p>Goran and I could definitely cut this box in half as far as supplies go, but we would rather have everything we need to make our camping trip as enjoyable as possible. Also, for the time begin, we are using a plastic storage container box with a lid as our kitchen box. But, there are amazing options out there as far as boxes and bins that are custom made for this purpose. You do you and find a box that works for your needs! </p>

<h4 id="what-goes-into-a-camping-kitchen-box" class="wp-block-heading">What Goes Into a Camping Kitchen Box?</h4>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/DSC00809-1024x683.jpg" alt="camping kitchen box contents" class="wp-image-2409" srcset="https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/DSC00809-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/DSC00809-300x200.jpg 300w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/DSC00809-768x512.jpg 768w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/DSC00809-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/DSC00809-2048x1365.jpg 2048w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/DSC00809-110x73.jpg 110w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/DSC00809-200x133.jpg 200w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/DSC00809-380x253.jpg 380w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/DSC00809-255x170.jpg 255w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/DSC00809-550x367.jpg 550w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/DSC00809-800x533.jpg 800w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/DSC00809-1160x773.jpg 1160w, https://adventuresinjennyland.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/DSC00809-scaled.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Here is everything we have packed in our camping kitchen box. Again, we leave this box packed and stored in the garage at all times. This allows us to just grab it and go whenever we get the urge to go camping. </p>
