Looking for a CLIQ chair review? I’ve been using mine for over a year and today, I am going to tell you all about it. First, we will go over specs, then we will talk about my impressions after a year of use. I am not sponsored by CLIQ, I purchased this chair with my own funds and I wanted to share my experience with you and hopefully help you make a purchasing decision.

*Adventures in Jennyland is viewer and reader supported. When you buy through the links on my site, I may earn an affiliate commission at no additional cost to you.*

First, the specs.

Advertised to be the Size of a water bottle (definitely a bit bigger, more like a 2L bottle of soda)

Weighs 3.5 pounds

Has a weight capacity of 300 pounds

Manufactured from aircraft-grade aluminum, ripstop ballistic nylon and has double seams

Comes in 7 colors: black, burgundy, moss, red, royal, silver, and sky

Cost: $99 on Amazon, click here to check it out

Has an additional carrying case that you can purchase (2 or 4 chairs), click here to check it out

My Review of the CLIQ Chair

First, it is more like the size of a liter bottle of water, or even a 2 liter. Not a 16.9 or 20 oz for sure. I think the whole “size of a water bottle” schtick is just marketing and it is not accurate. That being said, the CLIQ chair does close up compactly and doesn’t take up much space. I think this is what the manufacturers were trying to communicate with the water bottle size comparison.

Next, the weight of the CLIQ chair at 3.5 pounds will be light for some people, heavy for others. I did a 3 chair comparison last summer with the other two chairs coming in around 2 pounds and 14 oz respectively, so it really depends on how you plan on using the CLIQ chair. I took it on a backpacking trip and it was a bit too heavy and took up too much space in my backpack. But, I think it works great if you are car camping, or to the beach. I bring it with as an extra chair when we are in the Airstream as well. The CLIQ chair can be used pretty much anywhere.

Construction and Use of CLIQ chair

The construction of the CLIQ chair is super high quality. The frame is aircraft grade aluminum (is there even such a thing? I think this another instance of creative marketing). It just feels high quality. The chair cover is attached permanently to the frame, so no need to snap that on later. The CLIQ chair is made from ripstop ballistic nylon and has double seams for strength. I like that is has a weight capacity of 300 pounds. It makes it a very versatile seating option.

Opening and closing the CLIQ chair is a breeze. You just undo the strap and telescope the legs. The chair cover is permanently attached to the frame.

When sitting in the CLIQ chair, it has a bit of a rocking motion. It is not a fully rigid chair. It is a very comfortable chair. I used it during my hot tent campout this winter when I was cooking my meals on my wood stove, and I was comfortable the entire time. I have also used the CLIQ chair in my Airstream renovation project and it worked great.

Price

Now lets talk price. As of recording the CLIQ chair is still selling for $99.95, which is the same price I paid a year ago, and with the inflationary economy we are currently experiencing in summer 2022, I think it is pretty amazing that CLIQ hasn’t raised their prices. Is it worth a hundred bucks? I don’t think so. I would put a price point of maybe $75 tops.

That being said, it is a super high quality camp chair. I know I will be using mine for years to come. The high quality construction, ease of use, and portability of this chair make it a great option. If you are looking for something to take with you on a backwoods camping trip, I wouldn’t recommend the CLIQ, it is too heavy and bulky for that. But, if you need a camp chair to bring with you to a BBQ, the park, a concert, the beach, or car camping, the CLIQ chair will work beautifully and last for many years. Click here if you want to purchase the CLIQ chair or take a look at it.

If you would like to check out my three camping chair comparison review, click here.

I was looking for an easy way to make a fresh brewed cup of coffee while camping. I wanted a device that was lightweight and easily packed into my gear. A shopping trip to Cabela’s later and I had the Coffee Rocket in my hot little hands. I am not sponsored by Coffee Rocket and I purchased it with my own hard earned dollars. In this Coffee Rocket review, let’s see how it works and if it is worth adding to your camping gear!

Details of the Coffee Rocket

The Coffee Rocket retails for between $9 to $12. Find it on Amazon by clicking here (affiliate link, I may earn a small commission that helps support the channel). It is an eight fluid ounce pour-over coffee maker that claims to make a cup of coffee in less than three minutes. It weighs 110 grams. About three and a half ounces of coffee fits in the nesting cup so you can make your coffee as strong as you like. The Coffee Rocket is also very compact. The filter body nests into the water hopper so it doesn’t take up much room in your gear and the stainless steel filter is easy to clean after use. But does it work? And how good is the cup of coffee once it’s done?

How to Use

When you take the Coffee Rocket out of its packaging, it will be in two pieces. The water hopper is clear and has a stainless steel filter in the bottom. The coffee filter is navy blue and can be disassembled into two pieces: the stainless steel filter cup and the plastic cup that holds it. Fill the filter cup with coffee, about two tablespoons will do. Next, attach the water hopper to the top of the filter. Telescope the legs on the filter so that the entire Coffee Rocket will sit nicely on the lip of your coffee cup. Set the Rocket onto the top of your coffee mug and ensure that it is stable. Next, pour hot water into the water hopper, about an inch from the top. You will notice the water will start to drip through the coffee in the filter and come out the other side into your mug. Refill the water hopper as many times as you like, I usually fill the hopper twice. Add whatever you want to the coffee, such as cream or sugar. Or both, if you like to live dangerously. Or neither, if you’re a coffee purist. Then, enjoy!

Coffee Rocket Review Final Thoughts

After using the Coffee Rocket in the field several times, I have to say, I like it! If you really need to have freshly brewed coffee when you’re camping, but don’t feel like using a French press, this device is for you. It gives you a perfect cup of pour over coffee and is easy to use.

Today I will be sharing my Wolf and Grizzly Fire Safe Review. I am not sponsored by Wolf and Grizzly and I purchased the Fire Safe with my own funds (links in this article may be affiliate links, if you purchase an item through these links I may earn a small commission that helps support the channel).

I was in the market for a portable firepit. It needed to be small and light enough to fit in my backpack. Enter the Wolf and Grizzly Fire Safe. It is a portable fire pit that is lightweight and easy to assemble. The M1 grill accompanies the fire safe and allows you to cook with your Fire Safe. I tested the Fire Safe in many different weather conditions on several camping trips and I wanted to share my impressions.

Specs at a Glance

Weight: 2 lbs (910 g)

Dimensions: 11.4″ x 11″

Materials: 304 stainless steel

Compatible fuels: wood and charcoal

3 year post-fire warranty

Easy assembly

Easy cleanup

Cost: $89-$100 USD

First Impressions of Wolf and Grizzly Fire Safe

My first impression of the Wolf and Grizzly Fire Safe was that it was high quality. It comes in a sleek black carrying case that unzipped like butter. The Fire Safe comes in two pieces. It’s so easy to assemble I could probably do it with my eyes closed. The Fire Safe is made from a high quality stainless steel that looks as if it will stand the test of time.

The first time I used the Fire Safe was on my snow fort campout in snowy, cold conditions. I went to the woods and processed a bunch of wood, then built my first fire in the Fire Safe. One thing to keep in mind is that you will needed small pieces of wood for building a fire in it. The dimensions are less than a foot square, providing a small footprint. That being said, I had no trouble cutting wood to size. Once the fire is going, you can use larger pieces of wood.

Wolf and Grizzly have a sister product called the M1 grill that is manufactured to be in tandem with the Fire Safe. I purchased it as well and used it in my testing. The M1 grill is of similar high quality and is easy to use. I cooked several meals using the Fire Safe and M1 grill and loved how everything turned out.

You can also use charcoal with the Fire Safe, but I did not test it. I purchased the Fire Safe primarily for wood fires, but it is nice to know that I can use charcoal in it as well.

As far as cost, the Wolf and Grizzly Fire Safe is not cheap. As of this writing, it cost $89.95 on both the Wolf and Grizzly website and Amazon. The M1 grill goes for $99. You can purchase both in a bundle on the Wolf and Grizzly website for $189.95.

Tips for Using the Fire Safe

When using the Fire Safe with wood, be sure to have lots of short pieces. The wood burns faster when it is smaller so you will need more wood. You can use larger logs, just use your judgement. DO NOT put water directly onto the Fire Safe when it is still hot. This could warp the stainless steel and void your warranty. Wait until the Fire Safe cools off and then dispose of the ashes in a responsible way. When I used the M1 grill in conjunction with the Fire Safe, I would out the grill frame over the Fire Safe right away and build the fire under it. That way, I would ensure it would fit over the Fire Safe and not be blocked by a log or stick.

Final Thoughts

I am IN LOVE with the Wolf and Grizzly Fire Safe. This company has hit the ball out of the park with their high quality products. I would 100% recommend the Fire Safe. Its small size, high quality construction, and ease of use are the main factors contributing to my recommendation. While the price is a bit high, you need to consider that you will only ever need one of these; as long as you take care of it, the Fire Safe will last a lifetime.

If you want to see the Fire Safe in action, click the link above. If you would like to see it used in snowy conditions, click here. I hope my unbiased Wolf and Grizzly Fire Safe review helped you in your research!
In today’s review we are going to be taking a look at my pick for the best camp chair of 2021. There were three camp chairs I tested last season. I will touch on size, weight, capacity, and cost, as well as my impressions about each chair and how to set them up. I tested these chairs over the course of last summer (2021) on several camping trips as well as while remodeling my Airstream (links in this article may be affiliate links, if you purchase an item through these links I may earn a small commission that helps support the channel).

Hillsound Ultralight Camping Stool

Specs at a Glance:

17 inches tall

14.6 oz

240 lb capacity

Comfortable

Ultralight

Cost: $58-70 Amazon

The Hillsound Ultralight Camping Stool is an awesome addition to your backpacking kit. It truly is ultralight, weighing in at only 14.6 ounces for the 17 inch tall version. The weight capacity is 240 pounds (108 kg). It is very easy to assemble (see video above for demonstration) and packs down very small.

The Hillsound Camping Stool has high quality constryction and packaging. It will last a long time and you will only have to buy it once as long as you take care of it. I would recommend this stool for anyone who needs a lightweight chair for the trail. It wouldnt be comfortable to sit on for long periods of time, but would work when backpacking to eat or relax.

CLIQ Camping Chair

Specs at a Glance:

Size of a water bottle (def a bit bigger)

3.5 pounds (1.6 kg)

300 lb (136 kg) capacity

A bit bulky

Cost: $99

Has a cool carrying case that you can purchase

The CLIQ camping chair is the heaviest chair I tested, coming in at 3.5 pounds (1.6 kg). It has a weight capacity of 300 pounds (136 kg). CLIQ chair’s entire marketing scheme is that the chair is the size of a water bottle. Well, I have to say that it would be a very large water bottle, not your standard 16.9 ounce. Perhaps a liter sized bottle? That being said, the CLIQ camp chair has very high quality construction and opens easily (see video above for demonstration).

Is the CLIQ Camp Chair worth $99? I would say no. But, I can see how they get away with charging almost one hundred dollars. It is a quality product and very convenient. I wouldn’t buy another chair, but this chair will be nice to have in the back of the truck to use around a campfire or while tailgating.

Trekology Camp Chair

Specs at a Glance:

When assembled it measures 28 in high, 19 inch wide, 12 inch deep

2.1 pounds with bag

300 pound (136 kg) capacity

A bit bulky

Cost: $40

The Trekology Camp Chair was the first camp chair I purchased on this list. It is middle of the road as far as weight, coming in at 2.1 pounds (1 kg). It has a 300 pound (136 kg) weight capacity and is very comfortable. This chair is the least expensive chair on this list, but the low cost is not a reflection of the quality. The chair is well constructed and easy to assemble (see video above for demonstration). Something this chair has that the others do not are side pockets. These pockets will fit the largest smartphone with ease and I found myself using the pockets for just that purpose very often.

Final Thoughts Best Camp Chair

Best Camping Camp Chair: Trekology Camp Chair because low cost, high comfort, and pockets for phone on the sides. This was the only chair on this list with side pockets and I found them to be very convenient.

Best Backpacking Camp Chair: Hillsound Ultralight Camping Stool because ultralight weight, packability, and high quality construction. I would bring this on the trail with me anytime I go on a hike

Best Extra Chair to have Laying Around: The CLIQ Camping Chair is cool, having several on these on hand with the carrying case would be nice for extra guests because it isn’t too heavy, but for camping or backpacking it is too heavy. I also think it is overpriced.

I hope this review helped you in your research! Each chair is linked above on Amazon so if you would like to take a look at the price or make a purchase you can use those links. They are affiliate links so if you purchase using them, I make a small commission that helps to support this site, at no additional cost to you.

Looking for a review of the Guide Gear outdoor wood stove? I’ve had mine for over two years and today I am going to tell you all about it. I’ll start by giving you the specs on the stove. Next I will talk about my experiences using the stove. Finally, I will list out the pros and cons of the stove as well as give it a review. Let’s get started!

Also, I wanted to mention that I am not sponsored by Guide Gear or Sportsman guide. I just wanted to share my thoughts on this stove. This is the first camp stove that I’ve owned. I wanted to start with something inexpensive and this was the cheapest hot tent stove that had the best reviews.

Specs, Assembly, and Curing

I purchased the Guide Gear camp stove on Sportsman’s Guide.com for $108 plus tax and shipping (Dec 2020). It is currently $149 on Amazon. The stove was packaged well and relatively easy to put together. It weighs 43 pounds and is made of galvanized steel. Here are the specs:

2mm thick galvanized steel fire box with high-temp finish

Cast iron door with adjustable vent

Five interlocking stove pipes connect to form 6.45’h. chimney

Cool-touch coiled handle

Adjustable damper

10×8″h. door opening

11″w. x 17″d. x 8″h. firebox

12.5″w. x 19″d. x 7.75’h. overall

Weight: 43 lbs

You must cure the stove before you use it in a tent, so I burned a fire in it two nights in a row on my back porch for about 3 hours each time. The instructions said it would turn a gray color, but I didn’t notice that. There was a chemically smell at first but that is normal as the paint and coating are curing. I left it outside on my back porch and it got snowed on, so it started rusting pretty quickly.

After curing, it was ready for use. I set up my hot tent in my backyard so I could test the stove. Installation was easy. Getting a fire started in the Guide Gear camp stove is also very simple. You have to make sure you are cutting the wood to fit into the firebox, but other than that starting a fire is a breeze.

Testing the Guide Gear Camp Stove

I spent two days testing the stove in my backyard. I cooked two meals on it and burned a fire in it for 8 hours each day of testing. If you would like to check out the first day of testing, click here. I cooked chicken fajitas in a cast iron pan on the first day and chorizo and beans the second day.

The stove was ready for some real action so I booked a campground for some winter camping. We got lucky and were able to camp during a blizzard. We ended up getting 8.5 more inches of snow on top of the 8 inches we had from the previous week. It was a great opportunity to test this Guide Gear camp stove. We burned a fire in it for 10 hours while camping. Check out the video of that camping trip by clicking here.

Pros and Cons

Time to outline the pros and cons of the Guide Gear camp stove. After over thirty-five hours of testing, these are the things I noticed most.

Pros:

Inexpensive

Easy to assemble

Burns hot and easy to start a fire

Easy to cook a meal on the surface

Cons

Heavy

Rusts quickly (could be because it was sitting out in snow)

After about 5 hours of burn, it gets smoky when you open the door to feed the fire

Door design is garbage (click the video above to hear more about this issue)

Top warped within 3 uses (although this could be because of the extreme variation in temps)

Rating the Guide Gear Camp Stove

I am going to rate the stove in 3 categories: construction, ease of use, and overall impressions.

Starting with construction: The stove is definitely solid at a whopping 43 pounds. It was easy to put together, except for the door handle. Also, the door locking mechanism is horrible. I don’t know if I had a faulty handle or this was just an issue on my camp stove, but it drastically reduced my rating for the construction of this stove. Instead of an interior latching mechanism, I think it should be on the exterior so you don’t have to fight with the stove to open the door. For construction, I would give this Guide Gear outdoor wood stove a 5 out of 10.

Next is ease of use. It is very easy to get a fire going in this camp stove. The 17.5 inch length of the stove allows you to use long pieces of firewood, which is awesome. Since the stove is so heavy, it can be a bit cumbersome to lug into place. Again, the door ruined this stove for me. There were several occasions where I latched the door completely and couldn’t get it open without some serious effort. I started just using a log to hold the door shut, so once I did that, it was easier to use. Cooking on this campstove is great! There are always a few hot spots, but that is just the nature of a wood stove. For ease of use, I would give the Guide Gear outdoor wood stove a 7 out of 10.

Finally, my overall impressions. I knew purchasing this stove that it wasn’t going to meet all of my expectations. It was a cheap and easy option so I could experiment with hot tent camping. I think it’s a good starter stove. This is definitely not something you could take backpacking as its far too heavy. I don’t like how fast it warped and rusted, but that could be my fault. The thing that really killed this stove for me was the door latch. It may sound a little nitpicky but it’s a big deal. You need to have easy accessibility to feed the fire and make adjustments, so if you’re burning yourself and fighting with the stove every time you have to open it, that is a huge flaw.

Final Thoughts on the Guide Gear Camp Stove

Overall, I would give the Guide Gear camp stove a 5 out of 10. Not the worst, but certainly not the best. My next camp stove will be a light weight titanium folding option, I researching it now. So, be sure to subscribe to my channel to see what stove I review next! That’s it for the Guide Gear outdoor wood stove review. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions!
